MaggieMac Fantastic !!! 2020 will be remembered for finding Rachel Sumner. Folk is not my usual music, but seeing her Live at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge made me a fan.(Ah, the "Good Old Days" of getting to see live music!)
Find her dulcet tones very calming in these lock down Covid days !

Hold On Me 04:07
Waking up this early Ain’t easy to do I just wanna keep Keep dreaming of you Every atom Every molecule Inside of me Missing you like a fool CHORUS When someone says love Think of me If your heart’s ever sore Save it all for me I’d never known Love with it’s own Gravity But you got a hold on me Whenever you go, you know I wanna come along Chasing nothing Ramble, rove, and rolling on It never happens I’ve got holes in my shoes So I’m gonna keep Keep dreaming of you CHORUS Believe me It’s sublime Every return Every time Send shivers Down my spine Just to think Just to know That you’re mine CHORUS

Did he fail when he fell That Icarus we know so well? I think credit's owed where credit's due We all forget: he also flew When love comes to an end How people love to weigh in They tally all the faults and total scores But they don't know our love meant more Loving you was an early morning Watching the sunrise turn to day Holding the covers up 'til the moment They all were pulled away Like catching the last rays of a sunset On a cool summer's night Knowing the stars can't always shine so bright Shine so bright Did he fail when he fell That Icarus we know so well? I think credit's owed where credit's due We all forget: he also flew Loving you 'til the early morning Watching the sunrise turn to day Holding you closer up 'til the moment You turned and pulled away Loving you was learning to fly On wings of feathers and of wax Soaring sky-high with nothing else worth Looking back to Did we fail when we fell From a love we knew so well? I think credit's owed where credit's due Please don't forget: we also flew Would you think back on our time gladly? Anything worth doing at all's worth doing badly

about

Humans are incredible: we are so damn good at adapting. Like humans, I believe songs can live different kinds of lives and exist in many different states. As I grow and change, so do my songs and my approach to them -- this is why I am working on a series of recordings, revisiting my old songs to present them as you've never heard before!

'Adaptations: Vol. 1' has "Hold On Me," a song that I wrote for and recorded with my former band Twisted Pine. I've traded in the original bluegrass instrumentation for electric guitar and electric bass to give it a more vintage treatment, filled with lush harmonies!

"Anything Worth Doing" is the title track from my 2018 EP. The original is energetic and dense, filled with drums, fiddle, pedal steel, and keyboard. In the 'Adaptations' version of this song, I change the meter to a 6/8 feel and rely on the beauty of a single nylon string guitar to bring the song across.

I will be releasing Adaptations: Vol. 2 in June, so keep your eyes peeled!
